Sampling from a fixed vocabulary

Words come from the built-in general-purpose bank, which is shuffled before the requested items are taken. A three-word result contains no duplicate because each chosen entry is removed for that result. If the bank has 64 entries, a particular word has probability 3/64 of appearing somewhere in a three-word selection; that is a property of this list, not of English vocabulary.

Turning three draws into a writing constraint

Imagine the result is lantern, bridge, and whisper. A writer can require a scene to include all three ideas, then decide separately whether they are literal objects, metaphors, or names. The words do not form a sentence and do not rank themselves. Their value is the unexpected combination, which is why recording the exact output is more useful than repeatedly drawing until a familiar word appears.

The bank supplies a hidden boundary

A word picker cannot return a term that is absent from its bank. That matters for language practice, accessibility work, or a game with banned categories: the visible count says nothing about category balance. If every team must receive an animal, a verb, or an age-appropriate term, prepare and inspect a list with those constraints before randomizing it.

Not a language model or a thesaurus

The output is a bounded random sample, not a definition, translation, grammar check, or claim about word frequency. It may be an awkward seed for a poem and still be a correct draw. Use a dictionary or subject glossary when meaning matters; use this picker when novelty from a known collection is the point.

Keep the source list in view

A group using the output for charades or vocabulary practice should know that the words were sampled from a particular bank. If a result contains a word that violates the game’s age, language, or topic rule, replace the bank rather than pretending the draw proves suitability. Random selection is transparent only when the collection is known.

A result is a prompt, not a verdict

The selected words can start a game, title a sketch, or interrupt a brainstorming rut. They cannot tell a team which idea is feasible. Once a word leads to a proposal, evaluate that proposal with ordinary evidence rather than giving it extra weight because randomness introduced it.

Questions about the word bank

Can the same word appear twice?

Not within one result, because selected words are removed.

Does the result define a word?

No, it only samples from the built-in bank.
