Different wheels represent different rules
A wheel can select one equal category, one integer in an inclusive range, or a label with an explicit weight. Those are distinct sample spaces. A food choice must start with meals everyone can eat; a prize draw must start with real stock; a chore assignment needs a prior decision about whether tasks are comparable.
Make the list auditable
Before spinning, settle who or what belongs on the wheel, remove accidental duplicates, and state what happens after a result. Four equal entries give each entry a one-in-four chance. Repeating one entry creates two tickets, which may be fair only when everyone understands why.
Keep chance in its proper place
Randomness is useful for a casual tie or transparent selection among pre-approved options. It cannot create consent, measure workload, check eligibility, or replace safety and policy decisions. Record the inputs when the result affects a group, and treat a reroll as a new event rather than a hidden correction.
Choose the right probability model
Use equal sectors for equal claims, an integer range for consecutively numbered items, and weights when unequal chances are intended. A sequence with no repeats, a schedule, or constrained matching requires a different rule altogether. The circle is only the interface; the list and probability rule supply the meaning.
Check the rule before the animation
Count entries, inspect weights, and agree on how a practical exception will be handled while every outcome remains possible. This short pre-spin review prevents the display from being blamed for an unclear list, an unavailable option, or a condition that randomness was never meant to decide.
