Successive draws without replacement
Removing a selected entry changes the denominator at every round. From six distinct names, the first draw gives each person probability 1/6. Once Drew is selected and removed, each of the remaining five has probability 1/5 for the next round. The complete result is therefore a permutation, but its practical interpretation is a sequence of winners who cannot recur.
Six chores, six rounds
Put Alex, Blair, Casey, Drew, Emery, and Finley into the selector for six chores. If Casey is drawn first, Casey is no longer eligible for rounds two through six. The chance that Casey receives any particular numbered round is 1/6, while the chance of appearing twice is exactly zero. That is the property a repeated independent name picker does not provide.
Removal must be visible
Confirm that the chosen line disappears before the next draw. If someone edits the list manually or reloads the page, the record may no longer represent one uninterrupted without-replacement process. Preserve the finished order for a group allocation. A transparent list shows that no inconvenient participant was deleted only after another person appeared.
What it cannot balance
No-repeat selection distributes count, not burden. Six chores may take five minutes, two hours, or require training; one appearance each does not make them equal. This page also cannot handle changing eligibility halfway through. When jobs have weights, constraints, or required qualifications, define those conditions first instead of treating absence of repeats as fairness.
Finish or pause the sequence
A removal draw remains coherent when the group can point to the remaining pool after each round. If the activity pauses, save that pool rather than restarting from all names later. Restarting would restore probability to people already selected and undermine the no-repeat rule. For an assignment lasting multiple weeks, also specify when the pool resets. The reset date is part of the allocation policy, not a feature that randomness can choose.
